What is a Brazilian wax? What is a bikini wax?
The Brazilian wax basically takes it ALL away sometimes leaving just a tiny strip of hair in the front (which is then referred to by some as a “landing strip”
How long should I wait to get waxed after I’ve shaved and how long does hair need to be?
3-4 weeks is recommended. It takes time to grow out each of the 3 cycles. If you come in prematurely you may not achieve a desirable result.
Hair should be as long as a grain of rice. Longer is fine, we can trim if needed.
What can I do to prepare?
Does it Hurt?
Avoiding caffeine for 5 hours before getting waxed will greatly reduce sensitivity. Caffeine restricts the blood vessels so skin is not getting as much blood flow which increases sensitivity.
Taking an Ibuprofen 1 hour before will aid in reducing sensitivity and inflammation.
If you are on or close to your menstrual cycle you will be more sensitive.
Most women find it quite tolerable. Our estheticians work quickly and use a technique that reduces the pain greatly.
Other questions you may have:
Is it OK to shave between wax appointments?
With every wax it slows down and reduces hair growth. Hair starts growing thinner making it easier to remove and less painful when waxed. Shaving just one time in between will negate all that is gained from waxing and can further irritate follicles which can cause ingrown hair.
How long will it last?
If you have been shaving, there may be a transition period. It generally requires 2-3 consistent waxes to achieve optimal results which are: 3-4 weeks of hairlessness, softer hair, and less hair growing back. If you haven’t been shaving prior to getting waxed, these results may be obtained more quickly. you may see hairs resurfacing after
I’m on my period. Can I get waxed?
Yes, Please wear a tampon however,If possible, avoid scheduling your appointment just before or during your menstrual cycle. We recommend this only because we tend to be most sensitive during this time.
How long does it take?
Our experienced estheticians move quickly. The Brazilian itself should take no longer than 15 min- 25 mins
What can I expect afterwards?
The waxed skin might be tender for a couple of days.
What can I do about ingrown hair?
Exfoliating in the shower with a luffa or scrub that does not contain oils everyday can help. We carry Finipil which helps to prevent and clear the skin of ingrown hair and help hairs come back lighter and finer. Avoid tight clothing such as work out pants they can cause sweating and rubbing that can cause ingrown to happen.
Is waxing sanitary?
Yes, We never double dip our wax sticks. and use new disposable gloves/ sheets for each client.
We use Nufree Nudesse which is the gold standard in hair removal and is carried by thousands of professional salons throughout the world. It was developed over 25 years ago to help plastic surgeons remove hair from a patient before surgery. Here are just a few of the reasons why Nufree Nudesse is the most effective hair removal treatment in the world.
Nufree Nudesse is NOT A WAX and never sticks to the skin.
Nufree Nudesse is self-preserving antibacterial/antimicrobial so its safe, clean and germ free.
Nufree Nudesse is completely BOTANICAL and safe for the entire body.
Nufree Nudesse doesn’t dry and can be erased any time!
Nufree Nudesse is scientifically tested and uses no animal products.
Are there any topical creams or medications that I should avoid prior to getting waxed?
Yes, Internal Medication such as Accutane and topicals that include Retin-A, Salicylic Acid, Glycolic Acid,Differin,Tazorac,Avage,Strivectin,Renova,ProActive,Avita,Benzoyl Peroxide. All of the above mentioned can enhance skin sensitivity that could lead to lifting of the skin when removing hair.
Can I tan before or after I get waxed?
Yes, if waxed with Nufree you can with no wait. With our other wax (honey or hard wax) Please wait 2 days to get waxed after you have tanned. You should never get waxed if you are sunburned or even if skin is pink. The very top layer of skin could pull off or “lift” which is painful and can result in scabbing. You should wait for 2-3 days after you have waxed to tan. Waxed skin is more photosensitive and is more susceptible to burning.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes, we recommend scheduling in advance so as to avoid an extended wait. Please be aware that we book our brow appointments every 15 min. and Brazilian appointments every 30 min. Please be early or on time to avoid losing your appointment. If you’re unable to keep an appointment we appreciate calling within 24 hours prior if possible. If your service is 1/2 hour or longer we may request a credit card number to hold your appointment. You will not be charged unless you fail to cancel within 24 hours.
Is it alright to bring my child?
We ask they are accompanied by an adult NOT receiving a service. Thank you for your understanding. Please talk with your technician if you have any questions about this and we may make an exception.
Are there any age restrictions for a Brazilian wax?
Yes,we do not offer the Brazilian to clients under the age of 18.
